Who We Are
The Back Cove Neighborhood Association (BCNA) represents and advocates for the residents and businesses of the Back Cove neighborhood of Portland, Maine.
Founded in 2003, we serve as the liaison between Back Cove residents and businesses, and the city government. Our boundaries are (roughly) Forest Avenue across to Washington Avenue, and Canco Road down to the Cove.
We hold regular membership meetings & events focusing on:

- Local elections
- Open space/environmental issues
- Relations with Ocean Avenue Elementary School
- Traffic and safety
- Social get-togethers

Key Initiatives
Through the years, the BCNA has played a key role in a number of initiatives that make Back Cove a better place for all of us, including:

- Bringing Ocean Avenue Elementary School to the neighborhood
- Starting an "Aging in Place" program to help neighbors thrive in familiar settings
- Advocating for new playground equipment and plantings in Heseltine Park
- Helping to launch Sundays on the Boulevard to encourage car-free recreation
- Hosting parties and festivals to foster community and connection
