Owner Bruno Ndala has opened an African grocery, Ndala Market, in the Odd Fellows building. When asked what inspired Bruno to open a market, he said, "The African community in Maine is growing and they need more supermarkets!" Stop in a check out Bruno's selection of goods. Welcome, Ndala!

Coveside Coffee is aiming to open in early June at 28 Vannah Avenue. The shop is being opened Andy Nesheim and Zara Bohan who live in the neighborhood with their two children. They are planning a shop that is a “welcoming, family-friendly neighborhood gathering spot”. When you spot their building, you'll notice a beautiful new mural by Tessa Greene O'Brien from Better Letter Hand Painted Signs showing plants and animals native to the Back Cove. We look forward to welcoming Coveside soon!

And, Speckled Ax is opening a third location in the Greater Portland area at 135 Walton Street (formerly Izzy's Cheesecake). They've announced a May 20th opening date. You'll likely know Speckled Ax from their original locations on Congress and Commercial Street on the Peninsula. Two new coffee shops in the Back Cove area, lucky us!
